MITZVAH DAY

MITZVAH DAY
Sunday, May 4, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

Mitzvah Day 2025, held on Sunday, May 4, was a resounding success, uniting the Greensboro community in a shared mission of kindness and service. Volunteers of all ages gathered at Temple Emanuel to launch a day filled with meaningful activities and hands-on projects.

Mitzvah Day 2025 was a beautiful reminder of what can be achieved when people come together in service. Through small acts of kindness, the Greensboro Jewish community made a big difference—proving that when people pitch in with open hearts and helping hands, amazing things happen.

Let’s do it again next year!

On MITZVAH DAY, we give our time to make a difference in the community.

WHICH PROJECT WILL YOU CHOOSE?

Join us for Mitzvah Day 2026! Whether you’re cleaning, organizing, or doing something creative, we’re sure you’ll find the perfect way to contribute on Mitzvah Day! Here is a few projects from Mitzvah Day 2025:

PARK CLEAN-UP

The Jewish community has adopted a park — now let’s keep it beautiful! Join us to pick up litter, pull weeds around the playground, and tidy the creek. Bring the whole family for this kid-friendly opportunity.

A SIMPLE GESTURE

Looking for a hands-on way to help? Join us in swapping tags on A Simple Gesture’s donation bags—a small task that makes a big impact! These bags help stock the shelves at the David D. Frazier Food Pantry at JFS.

KELLEN FOUNDATION
HOPE HUB

The Kellin Foundation’s new Hope Hub needs YOU! They’ve just received a donated space and are getting it ready for clients. If you're great at organizing and cleaning, this is your chance to make an impact.

BLOOD DRIVE

Donating blood is a quick and meaningful mitzvah!

The beautiful new Red Cross bus will be at Temple Emanuel from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Registration is available, but not required. Bring your photo ID.

PEACEHAVEN COMMUNITY FARM

Peacehaven Community Farm brings people of all abilities together. As a volunteer, you’ll work alongside residents to create felted soap and dryer balls, enjoy fun games, and learn about life on the farm.

AUTHORACARE COLLECTIVE

Help clean up the gardens at the Hospice house to create a peaceful environment for patients and families at the end of life. Clean out bird houses, pull weeds, and trim bushes at this meaningful Mitzvah Day location!

“Tzedakah and acts of kindness are the equivalent to all the mitzvot in the Torah.”

Jerusalem Talmud, Pe’ah 1:1
